Court reserves verdict on physical remand of drug suspect Anmol alias Pinky in Karachi

A judicial magistrate’s court in Karachi on Friday reserved its verdict on the physical remand request of a woman accused in a narcotics case, identified as Anmol alias Pinky, who was produced before the court under tight security.
According to reports, the suspect was brought to the City Court Karachi with her face covered and presented before the Judicial Magistrate South. During the hearing, she created a commotion in court, claiming that she had been in custody for 22 days and was allegedly picked up from Lahore and transported in a police van. She further alleged that false cases had been registered against her and that she had been subjected to torture.
The court assured the accused that she would not be harassed during proceedings and that both she and her lawyer would be given a full opportunity to present their arguments.

Anmol alias Pinky also alleged during the hearing that multiple cases had been filed against her and that she was being pressured to confess, warning that her family could be targeted if she refused.
During the hearing, the investigating officer informed the court that multiple arrests had been made in the case and that recovery of narcotics had been conducted based on the suspect’s alleged identification. He claimed that the accused was not cooperating and was attempting to mislead the investigation.
The officer further stated that the suspect was involved in multiple cases and had allegedly been supplying drugs to a large number of individuals, including students, and claimed that foreign nationals were also part of the network. He added that around 800 contacts had been traced during the investigation.
The court expressed concern over inconsistencies in the investigation and questioned procedural lapses, including missing documentation. After hearing arguments from both sides, the court reserved its decision on the prosecution’s request for physical remand.
